Complex of northernmost islands of Tonga, of which one major and 55 minor, for a total extension of 138 km², with 17.000 inhabitants. It is located about 600 km east of Fiji and 400 km south of Samoa. It is one of the most important tourist sites in Tonga, famous for being the birthplace of humpback whales.

The first intervention of the Tonga Energy Road Map was the construction of the field solar La'a Lahi (big sun), thanks to the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund grant. From the start of operation of the plant, the importation of 289 thousand liters of fossil fuel per year is avoided, equal to the non-emission into the atmosphere of 724 tCO2 / year. The lower production costs had an impact on the electricity tariff, which decreased. The construction of the plant has created local employment equal to an equivalent of 400 thousand dollars.
