THEEU Island Facility NESOI launched the first of a series of calls for proposals in October grants to support the energy transition of European islands, in order to favor the decentralization of energy systems.
Thanks to the funds of Horizon 2020, in fact, NESOI aims to mobilize over 100 million euros of investments in sustainable energy projects to an audience of 2.400 inhabited EU islands by 2023 in order to significantly reduce CO2 and GHG emissions through a practical approach that allows local authorities and private entities to obtain the necessary technical and financial capacities to effectively implement the plans of energy transition.
The total EU funding available is € 3.120.000 and provides for a maximum amount of grant per proposal / beneficiary equal to 60 thousand euros.
In addition to the grants, the winners will also receive free technical assistance services by NESOI - for a maximum value of 60 thousand euros - for the definition and implementation of the proposals.
Ai projects is not required no specific maturity level. In fact, both projects without any previous exhaustive planning, interventions already identified but on which no in-depth analyzes have been carried out, and projects ready to be implemented are admissible.
Also as regards the type of projects suitable for receiving the support of NESOI, the call is very broad. For example, these are interventions that may concern:
- Energy production from renewables;
- Interventions energy efficiency on assets (buildings, lighting systems, etc.);
- The realization / improvement of energy storage systems;
- Il improvement of the existing electricity network;
- The creation / improvement of networks of district heating and district cooling;
- Actions of waste and water management related to energy;
- Implementation of solutions sustainable mobility;
- Improved monitoring and energy management;
- Audits and energy analysis, energy planning.
The call is open to all types of legal entities, public and private, established in EU countries. In the case of private entities, they must manage their own assets or assets of public interest on the island where the project is planned.
