The disposal of asbestos, especially for smaller and more isolated areas, requires significant costs and logistical problems related to the distance from the mainland which very often do not facilitate the disposal of this material. The island of Capraia demonstrates that it is possible to team up between individuals.
The Capraia Smart Island Conference has joined an initiative wanted by the Capraia homeowners association, registered with Confedilizia: the collective disposal of asbestos on the island. Twelve families have joined the initiative allowing to lower disposal costs by about two thirds.
The operations involving the company Ecogeoambiente will start in early June.
