In the two Pontine islands of Ventotene and Santo Stefano, the "Laboratory for sustainable tourism development " to support and enhance local resources with a view to sustainable tourism development. The objective of the laboratory is to contribute to the realization of innovative projects, in particular in the field of hospitality and tourist services, capable of giving concrete answers to the needs and requirements of the territory.
This project was born from the constant listening of the Ventotene community and from the sharing with the municipal administration and the Lazio Region of the strategic objective of recovery of the former Bourbon prison on the island of Santo Stefano.
With the launch of the innovation laboratory in the municipality of Ventotene, the Lazio Region, through Lazio Innova and in collaboration with the Government's Extraordinary Commissioner for the recovery and enhancement of the former Bourbon prison on the island of Santo Stefano, wants to stimulate good ideas and turn them into businesses, generate jobs and development, to relaunch the economy of Ventotene and upgrade and seasonally adjust its tourist, accommodation, cultural and environmental offer.
Various initiatives will be implemented including: laboratories to identify new processes and technologies able to satisfy the innovation needs expressed by the island; training courses, for the transfer of skills suitable for the design of new innovative products and services.
