On the Sicilian island, a team of Italian researchers has identified a natural environment with geological similarities to Mars and that could also simulate conditions on early Earth. The study, published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, is the result of a collaboration between the CNR (National Research Council), INAF (National Institute of Astrophysics), the University of Tuscia – Viterbo, and Sapienza University of Rome, and funded by the Italian Space Agency.
